    Palo Trail Conditions

Passing through Amarillo Sun or Mon. How are the Palo Duro trail conditions after all the rain? How well do the trails drain?

    Thanks for any info

The lowers are usually pretty damp for several days after a rain. I have not been down this weekend, but you may luck out and be able to ride GSL or Capitol Peak. The trails drain pretty well, but areas where you cross creek beds can be gnarly. The soil can retain quite a bit of water depending on how much rain got down there. You will know very quickly from any trail head if you should not be riding them. The red clay will just swamp your tires very quickly if the conditions are too wet.

All that said. If I was you I would try to put in at GSL and see how it goes in the first 1/4 mile. If you haven't collected the whole canyon or eaten up the trail you should be pretty good to go.

    good luck.
I like Texas, ain't it fine here!
