    MTB Riding in Bastrop Area?

Howdy, I am going to be spending a week in the Bastrop area and was wondering if anyone knows of any trails? It appears Bastrop State Park is hiking only, and Buescher doesn't show anything.

    TIA!

Rocky Hill Ranch is 2 1/2 miles or so from Buescher State Park and well worth taking a trip to. Also Bluff Creek Warda is about 25-30 mins away as well. Both are or were TMBRA race courses.

Ridden both Rocky Hill Ranch and Bluff Creek. Both trail systems are a lot of fun, with a slight edge to Bluff Creek. The showers and bathrooms at Bluff Creek are a huge plus in the Texas summers.

I've never made it Bluff Creek, but I love RHR. Boomer and the guys have done a great job adding and maintaining the trails over the past year or so.

The burgers at the Saloon are hard to beat as well.

Good call on the Saloon burgers. They do home-made burgers at Bluff Creek as well (by home-made, I mean they raise the cows on the ranch themselves). Tasty. You should definitely try to make it out there some time.

    One more vote for RHR

Since you're there all week check out both, but if you only get a chance to ride one make sure it's Rocky Hill Ranch, way way more fun than Warda

Heads up on the burgers and beer...
The soloon may not be open. Was there this weekned (6/25) and there was a sign on the door that said " Due to unavoidable circumstances the Soloon will be closed till 6/5/06". (<-- reading between the lines... lease trouble)

However we did find a compairable place in Bastrop. It's called The Roadhouse and its off of 21 just before you get to Bastrop as you are coming from Smithville.

You can find info on Warda and RHR at my site as well http://www.austinbike.com but charles is right, there is more fun in Austin - it's only 45 minutes from Bastrop.

    Good job! Thanks!

    Thanks to all who replied!

I only found time to sneak away one day - Wednesday.

RHR is a great place. I was all alone, not another soul to be seen. Great trails!!! I really enjoyed the solitude and the trails.

Good call on RHR........especially since Warda closed last week, they had some land lease issues, they have since reopened but have lost about half their trails

Whoa! Which sections of the trail did they lose? I was last there on June 25th. This happened since then?

Jim, glad you got a chance to ride and had a good time. RHR is a lot of fun and a great workout.
