    McKinney Roughs LCRA park (bastrop/austin)

I just rode their the other day, I got a little lost on the trails so I ended up at their visitors center. I approached a ranger and asked for directions, and was promptly escorted to the main entrance, and kicked out! Obviously, bikes are not allowed at all there. This was a suprise to me because I entered at an alternate entrance that had no signs saying that bikes for prohibited. It was later in the afternoon and I have the feeling that the ranger was just messing with me. He claims that bikes scare the equistrian riders. I do not doubt this, but I went to the park in the first place because my mom rides her horses there, and says that bikers ride there all the time, and that she is training her horses to get used to the bikes.

So, my question is, has anyone else ridden there? Their trail brochure (with maps and pricing and mission statement) doesnt say anything about no bikes.

    Was I in the wrong?

Mckinney Falls has bike trails, not sure that mckinney roughs allows bikes.

    What he said...

McKinney Falls State Park allows bikes; McKinney Roughs Nature Park (LCRA), no biking allowed. Just look for the biking icon on the LCRA directory. No icon, no biking.

And with no shame...for future reference, check out MountainBikeTx.com

What they said: No bikes at McKinney Roughs.

Please don't risk the mountain bikers' relationship at the rest of their parks by riding your bike at one of their parks that don't allow it.
