Looking for place to camp and ride

We are looking to find a place that has campsite and enough trails to keep us occupied for two days. We are wanting to be able to park close to our campsite and be able to get to the trails on our bikes close by. We are hoping that there are maybe two halves of the trails that we could split between the days.

We haven't ridden many trails but have gone for 9 miles at Lake Bryan. We also have ridden the green belt in San Marcos, and Madrone trail at Canyon Lake. We aren't fast on the trails but we do make it through without too many stops or stalls.

Any ideas or places to check out would be greatly appreciated. We aren't necessarily trying to find free place, we do not mind paying.

You haven't stated where you're looking, but this is supposed to be a good place to camp and ride.

Double Lake, we're planning a trip there when the weather improves.

There is also Bluff Creek Ranch, a little ways from smithville/rocky hill. Similar terrain but less technical than rocky hill.

I've been trying to find one up by Wichita Falls so my son and I could go bikamping. He is 8 and still learning about his new Trek but I figured we could give it a shot!! We go to the local trail 1 a week but he keeps talking about bikamping.

All of your state parks have some sort of hiking/biking trails. Some aren't very long. Just got back from Tawakoni State Park. There are three loops on the back side of the park, only about 3 miles long total, but can get a little hairy in places if you are riding at speed. Creavis, how far are you from Lake Murray in Okla.

Pleepleus I have looked at that site and seen some places that might work.

Rdeeno I'm familar with lake Murray. I'm about an hour and half away from there. I've been on the water before and noticed some ATV trails I think or atleast there were some ATV riding.

Not ALL of the State Parks have biking trails.

There are certainly countless choices, but if you are looking for the most bang for the buck as far as multiple choices in a to-day period, I'd locate someplace central to several trails. You have already been to the site, but did you look at the Googlemap? That will help you see what's where and what's around.

If you have a GPS you can download where all the trails are, too.

Check out Cedar Hill SP. They have a kick ass 12 mile trail, plenty of camp sites. You could then drive to one of the many nice trails Dallas has to offer.

I'll have to check that out. Let the wife stay at the Hilton with the little ones while the older one and I go camping. That's a trade I'm willing to make.

Slightly off-topic but have you had your 8 year old son on the Wee-chi-ta? I was thinking about taking my 9 year-old daughter up there to ride a bit of it on her Specialized.

Cleburne State Park and Dinosaur Valley are close to each other and both have fun trails. We usually camp at Cleburne and make a daytrip to Dino.

Flat Rock Ranch. We are planning a trip there the weekend of feb 3-5. Camping and riding all weekend. You should join us. Can park and camp next to each other, and trails open and close near same location.

@ jet teach. Yes I have taken him there. He enjoys it but there are some areas where he hikes a bike because they are to steep. Short climbs but just a little much for him. We might head to pk the end of the month to check out the trails. Have you taken your nine year old them?
