Houston area - Jack Brooks Park

We went to Jack Brooks for the 1st time today, it definately will not be our last. That place is awesome. Here are a few vids with some crashes. I think my friend cracked a rib in the fall in the last video.

Be sure to watch in 720p HD:

I use the GoPro HD camera with a chest mount. I bought it from REI over Memorial weekend on sale for $229. The regular price is $299. He is doing better, still sore.

he may only have a bruised rib if he's only sore. if he cracked or broke it, he'd know. i've cracked and broken enough ribs in my day. it hurts just to breathe, turn your head, or even laugh. god forbid you get the hiccups!

we'll be out at JBP this afternoon. i'll be on a tricolor blue GT Peace 9r singlespeed.

I was out last weekend as well. Broke my handlebar. (it was an older carbon bar... 6 yrs old, but probably used a couple times a year for the past 2 or 3 on my light trail/race bike). Broke just below the grip on the brake clamp (I am assuming it was overtightened at some point...nobody to blame but myself).

Regardless, it was a strange feeling....just kinda crumbled in my hand and all I was holding was the grip. I did it on one of the little wood features on dragons back (I think). Luckily I was on the back of the saddle and managed to stay on my feet.

It is amazing the things you notice walking out that you miss when riding.

(Ironically, I had just taken a carbon bar off my bigger bike (Knolly DT...too much bike for the climbs at Jack Brooks) in favor of an aluminum bar...guess I replaced the wrong bar.)

Regardless, some of the best trails in Houston.

I was out there for an hour-ish yesterday with a friend riding VERY slowly since she's new. Mosquitos were HORRIBLE!
