    Houston: Add'cks-Tanner Trail Project Update

Harris County Parks and MUDs 341 and 370 are progressing on the Add’cks-Tanner Trails project, which will connect the crosswalks at Ginger Ponds and Tanner to the top of Add’cks Dam. A map of the project is attached. (Note: MTBR auto-censor won't allow inclusion of the name of the dam.)

The layout of the trails and resolution of the associated right-of-way issues are now complete. The Corps of Engineers’ permit is in progress, and construction cannot be scheduled until that is issued. Though it might happen sooner, construction in 2018 is most likely.

This project will improve access to Cullen Park and Add'cks Reservoir from the north. Attractions include biking, hiking, wildlife viewing and geocaching. There are a number of mountain bike trails on legacy roads in the park south of Clay Road.

If youhave any questions, please contact me.

I feel so badly for mountain bikers who have to live in Houston.

How exciting! An addition of 1000 feet of trail connecting a sidewalk to the top of a dirt levy used for flood control. New trails!!!!

That area has nothing to do with mountain biking. The levy abuts my office so I ride this area on lunch breaks on my gravel bike. This same area of town has a decent MTB trail system known as the Anthills. 15 min drive away are trails in Memorial Park.

Still Houston is by no means a biking mecca.

Oh I am familiar with the area. I grew up in Houston.

I just feel so badly for you guys. Jobs are plentiful though and it has some redeeming qualities, so I get it.
