Goin' to ride Austin on 3/13-3/14 but SS or FS?

    Guys,
I live in Dallas but never done any Austin trails. I will ride:
    1. Barton Creek Green Belt
    2. City Park

Picked those two based on the info that is available on the net.

    Questions:

    1. Which bike do I bring given it is the first time in Austin?
    Niner SIR 34x20 gear ratio

    or

    Turner Flux

    or Five Spot

I ride all of the DFW trails SS currently. I guess I am concerned that I will walk a lot at City park (Super Steep extended tech climbs?) - Anyone riding City park Single speed?

Thank you. Also, any other trails in Austin better than the two above?

anything but your SS if you're hitting City Park and BCGB.

    5-6" travel is good.

    29er if you got it.

Post up on Mojo to see about tours or group rides

I would go with the five spot for BCGB. Looks like a lot of rain coming this week. BCGB will most likely be close if we get some rain. It is so dry down there, the trails will most likely be a mess. You can also check austinridgeriders.com for trail info or call 512-472-1267 for BCGB trail conditions, some times you get a person not just their fancy answering machine.

+3 on the 5 Spot. Much different riding out here, much more technical and chunky in general.

I'd say bring the SS if you want to suffer more (everything can/has been cleaned on a SS) but you might have a more enjoyable time on the squishy.

Hell, we have people here riding on unicycles, but I wouldn't recommend it for your first trip here.

Bring the squishy and have fun.

Check the weather. 70% chance of rain thru Saturday, but we have a saying here,
"Don't cancel a ride unless you have rain on your helmet at the trail head".

Sometimes parts of town get it and others don't.

You can ride City Park in the rain and that will be bout it.

We're bone dry here, so some rain won't be too bad, but if we get enough = soupy.

Keep an eye on the radar and www.weather.com

The trip was cancelled since it rained the whole weekend . I am planning a trip to Austin later on, possibly in May.

    5 Spot it is!
