    ECDM rear suspension travel.

I understand that some owners have increased the rear suspension travel to 5" by fitting new rocker plates. Can you still use the same shock? Is this very successful and what are the disadvantages? Coming from a "half bike" background, I am used to having the travel distance matched at each end. Will be running a 140mm Rockshox Pike fork.

My opinion, the longer travel may be nice, but the shorter travel with quality is very good.

I had a discussion with Larry about this exact topic while at AORTA 2014. I explained that our short travel ECDM ran out of rebound clicker and was still too fast. He and his wife run long travel linkage and have the same problem.

For us, I revalved the stock shock and got the results I expected. I am not sure what Larry plans to do, but explained that to do it right, it needs some work on the shims.

For us, ultimately, I did away with the oem RP series shock and went with a DHX 5.0 air. This has provided the controlled rear end with a bottomless feel.

We as riders though are letting the bike know it is far better than us this year.

Also, FWIW, we are running 150 in front and 100 ish in the rear. The fork is far more important on a tandem, since everything is kind of a controlled crash.
