    Monkey bottom bracket height?

I don't have wheels on my 26" MTB so I can't compare. But I'm just now getting some dirt time on my Monkey at my local trail. The same trail I've been riding regularly for the past 6 years. So I know the trail. I found myself with about 4-5 pedal strikes on my last ride. I've never had strike problems before even running 180s. I'm running 175s w/ 2.2 Bontis on the Monkey. WTF? I'm not an educated 29er guy. Is this a common 29er thing to compensate for the larger wheels or is this a Surly Monkey thing?
My tapeworm tells me what to do.

Well Fank, truth is... the Monkey does have a low bottom bracket. But Surly does this to give the Monkey a feeling of handling like its on a rail by lowering the center of gravity. The exactg measurements I do not know. It also depends on the tire. I've run mine either with 165mm(fixed) or 175mm(free). But, yes I have noticed the occasional pedal stike but only in really rocky stuf like the Appalacians. Hope this helps.
