Biggest fast XC tire for 1st gen Karate Monkey?

I am resurrecting my 2007 KM.

I want to go as big as I can in the rear while running full forward in the dropouts. No front derailleur. I want something fast rolling, like the Racing Ralph I used to run, but higher volume (mine is a 2.25). Going to be used for a mix of dirt roads, doubletrack, and singletrack. Tubeless compatible is nice but not critical (rims are not TC).

So, what are the biggest fast tires you have stuffed in your 1st Gen Karate Monkey? Rim width you were running would be helpful info as well. Mine are 25mm internal width.

    Thanks!
15mm is a second-best solution to a problem that was already solved.

A dude i know is running oozy 395+ rims (35mm internal) with Teravail ehline 29x2.5 w/o issue. Looks bad ass and i wanna build up a set myself.

For a "fast tire" I've run 29x2.35 Big Apples on my flows (25mm internal) They fast on pavement.
