XX rear downshift gear lever won't return to start position
Last year I had to rebuild the lever. I managed to get it together by following advices in this thread:

Action has been at bit slow, and lately it's gotten worse. After pushing the downshift lever all the way in, letting go and then pushing it in again, it does not catch the cable the second time. Assembling the lever was a tremendous job, and I don't want to take it apart again not knowing what to look for. Any ideas?

Sounds like one or more of the pawls are stuck. If that's what it is, I'd liberally hose it out with some thin lube/solvent, like WD40. It may need to soak for a day or two periodically working it before loosening up.

Although the lever assembly looks really clean and tidy (has not been used a lot), I sprayed it with vaseline spray today. In a day or two we will know it it helped.

I suspected that the spiral shaped spring had too little tension, but it does seem unrealistic to wind it up any more than I did. Think it did around 1 1/2 turn.

I am pretty sure that I assembled it correctly. This thread was very helpful.
