    XX ok for all mountain?

I like the XX stuff for all mountain because most of the time you run a 2x9 setup, so a 2x10 would work great. My worries are the brakes and the cranks. I'm ordering a carbon nomad with a XX build kit. I'm thinking of selling the brakes and the cranks as soon as i get them. Do you guys see any problems with the rest of the drivetrain remaning XX?

Just don't hit the RD on a rock! The crank is stiff, but if you bash it into rocks, it will get beat up. Brakes should be okay.
I like bicycles. Bicycles make me happy. Riding them makes me even happier.

I have been on XX since April '10 with no issues. Keep in mind I am only riding the drivetrain....no brakes. I just did a review here: https://www.jeffkerkove.net/2010/07/...t-sram-xx.html

Also, I feel the XX.....or 2x10 system in general....would be fine for all mountain. I am going to use XX on the 470 mile solo self supported CO Trail Race starting Aug. 2. I have been training on the bike for 3 months....fully loaded with food, water, sleeping gear, etc, etc....everything needed to be in the CO backcountry for 4-7 days.
