    XX Brakes

Has anyone got their hands on a set of these yet? I'm curious to know what the new rotors weigh.

I have seen pics on a scale, the 6-bolt 160mm rotor was 96gr and the 140 was 84gr.

    Haven't Weighed Them

I've got a set. 140 rear and 160 front. Haven't weighed them but I'm not real concerned about that. They are sitting in boxes weighting for my new frame to be completed and the remainder of the XX stuff to show. Apparently the BB30 cranks and Press-fit 30 BB are some type of rare species. I've been waiting for weeks.

Isn't 96g only 10g lighter than the 160mm G3 rotor at 106g? Or is that weight off for the G3?

I didn't take photos unfortunately but my weights (on a digital scale) were 172 grams for the front and 185 grams for the rear.
This includes: caliper+hose+lever assembly, with fluid, stock (organic) pads, stock clamp (not MMX) with bolt, no pad spacer.
Long caliper mounting bolts (for 185 mm front PM-PM adaptor) with all 10 washers are 19 grams.
Short caliper mounting bolts with all 10 washers are 15 grams.

I didn't like the original lever clamps and swapped them for MMX's (removed the bolt and plate that's used to mount the shifter pod because I run Shimano) which added 5 grams per brake.

    Really?

The new Hope X2 Race Brakes are supposed to come in at an "all in" weight of 275g.

The new Formula R1 at 279g

So this XX brake would be 306g frt with a 185 rotor and 281 rear with a 160 rotor.

I think I will stick with the Hopes.

Just weighed a front Elixir CR Mag with 160mm rotor:
caliper+hose+lever assembly, with fluid, stock pads, stock clamp==200grams
Complete set with bolts, 10 washers, G3 disc and steel rotor bolts==327 grams.

Seems that you can get the CR Mags for about half the XX price on Ebay, but alas not as much bling for those forty extra grams.

Must fight need for XX bling

This means that the claimed weight for a set of XX are correct (290g approx for 6" PM front). Hopes are yet only a paper weight and (according to my experience of the original mono mini) would be less powerful - I'm happy to be proved wrong on this one as I've just bought the mini X2 pro's on clearance. Also you can drop some more weight off with the mono mini rotors on the XX - almost 20g/end.
