Replacing limit screw for X-9 rear derailleur

My limit screw, along with that annoying little plastic piece, disappeared on my last ride. I have the replacement, but I can't get that plastic bugger in there to screw into. Any trick to this?

Great ride on Sunday; 10 miles, but I guess it was that big stick that got jammed in my back wheel at one point...had problems shifting after that, and on the way home I shift and end up with a broken hanger...limit screw gone...chain off, derailleur hanging there (luckily not damaged!)...I have it all fixed except this one little screw!

I put mine in with some pliers. Just to save money in the future, you can buy a bag of suitable plastic chunks at the hardware store. I recommend trimming down the yellow ones from the drywall section.

The *factory* one was crap. I trimmed down one of the white ones from the drywall section, and it works like a champ. Thanks!
