    How to remove XX1 crank

I'm trying to remove my XX1 crank so I can replace the PF30 BB (2015 model, if relevant)

I've undone the 10mm bolt on the drive side and the drive side crank has come off OK.

However, I can't pull the non-drive side crank off. I've tried tapping it with a rubber mallet, and undoing the BB adjuster (which is now loose) but to no avail.

Is there anything else that I'm supposed to be doing - or is it just a case of hitting it harder? There's an 8mm bolt on the NDS, but it says 'Do not remove' on it. So I'm assuming that's not the answer!

Cheers - went at it a little bit harder and it eventually came out.

Another question - once the cranks are back on, what's the procedure for setting the preload adjuster. I'm not sure whether I should be screwing it towards the frame as tight as I can by hand, or maybe doing that then backing it off a little. I'm assuming it's just to take up any side to side play, but I don't want to overtighten it and put sideways load on the bearings

Sorry someone else will have to chime in on this. I don't have a preload adjuster. Mine are washer stack ups.

After you've installed the crankset (10mm driveside bolt) to correct torque (48-54 Nm) the preload adjuster is screwed by hand until it just touches the bearing shield. It is just to take up side to side play as you described.
