    Different color lyric stanctions

My new OEM Lyric 2-step has two different color stanctions. The left side is more "gray" colored and has slight vertical striations while the right looks normal - like my older lyric. Does anyone know anything about this?

Sounds like the left side is pretty worn. Striations may be indicative of bushing wear. Both sides should be the same color and there shouldn't be any striations.

It came like this out of the box, the bike is only a few weeks old. It came on a 2010 Specialized Enduro Expert. All of the other 2010 Enduros at the shop are like this as well, some more than others.

Both stanctions feel the same, if that means anything. I am not sure if this is worth contacting SRAM about. While it doesn't seem to be affecting the feel of the fork now, I worry that this is going to lead to problems down the road i.e. premature bushing wear. I have never seen any other fork, regardless of brand or model, that has two different color stanctions.

I would have your shop call SRAM for an answer. Even if its a cosmetic flaw and nothing more, the techs will probably appreciate a heads up for future reference. If your asking yourself this question and the rest of the bikes on the floor look "off," then others will be asking themselves the same thing in the near future.
