    2009 Truvativ Stylo GXP OCT?

80g lighter than the old forged ones with a 180mm SS option, some nice bash guards and available in mirror black or super aluminium finishes = black or silver to us.

Personally I was hoping for some of these lovely purple ones but they don’t seem to have included them in the
    press release.

Heh, I think I'll stick with basic black or silver! Thanks for the info.

Does this mean that all '09 Stylo 3.3 cranks are OCT versions at 820g? There are a few web dealers who claim to have the '09 Stylo 3.3 in stock right now--many for less than $200.00. Should I jump on this? This would make them nearly as light as XTR a only 1/2 to 1/3 of the price--if they live up to claimed weight.

the current (08) Stylo is 930g, not 880 - so 09 weight would be almost the same as the XT

Don't think so. Look at the following. I believe the original Stylo GXPs were overweight, as was the original carbon. The newer ones are lighter. These in the pics are unmodified/stock:

    EDIT:

Actually, you're right! The 2007 models in the pics were lighter than the new 2008s! I do think that the 2009 model will be much lighter due to the new fabrication process.

The link shows the 06-07 stylos
The 08 model has a different shape (not Ibeam anymore, more rounded), different chainrings etc.
You can see it here: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/mo...534.455.1.html, but the claimed weight is way off.
I bought one, weighted it , and listed on ebay the following day.
    Bought a 07 version, it's over 50g lighter - and cheaper too!

    Chain Reaction?

I just got a set of 2.2's and they look identical, except in a gloss black and different graphics.

Hey, can you tell us how much the crankset or crank arms weigh?

Should be a lot lighter than that, your weight is more like the old forged Stylo’s…

Definitly the heaiver "transition" model from 2008. The 2009 with the OCT graphics should be much lighter than that, eh?

How do the truvativ cranks perform compared to the shimano stuff. I have always heard shimanos shifts better, but I have all SRAM on my bike and have been contemplating a stylo crank for quite some time now. Those stylos are nice and light for a reasonable price.

I am definitely interested in the new stylo 1.1. My Firex 1.1 fnally crapped out on me! Seems the OEM cranks on any raleigh mtn bike like to do this. This happened with my m50 as well. I got them to replace it with the ISIS drive system for free and it worked for a while...but still came loose...

So how is exactly is this crank manufactured? Does it have hollow crank arms or solid? And how will the weight compare to my GXP Firex crank?
