Old 99 Hardrock, how do you measure the stem length when not printed on stem?

How do you guys determine the stem length when it's not printed on the stem? I think more modern stems now have the stem length printed on but on this old 99, (maybe it got scraped off or something) i can't seem to find the length on it. How do you determine what length it is?

aside from saying "measure it", where am i measuring from? end to end?

    Thanks.

You measure from the edge of the stem to the center bolt of the headset cap Bolt.

The stem comes in two parts the actual stem plus the other end (small piece that takes the bolts) and that clamps the handlebars together. You need to measure from the edge of the actual stem. Hopefully it's clear kind of hard to explain.

Yeah-Its center to center for length, not center to edge.
