    enduro chainstay/seatstay alignment

it looks to me like the stays on my 2001 enduro comp are quite asymmetric to accommodate the difference between the cassette side of the hub and the rotor side. i cannot achieve an "even" spacing on either side of the tire (from either the chainstay or the seatstay) no matter how i dish the rear wheel. if the spacing is "even" between both sides of the tire and the chainstay, it's not even at the seatstay and vice-versa. is this normal and not something to waste any more time with? the rear wheel is true and seems to sit correctly in the dropouts. thanks for anyone else's feedback.

    Maybe an alignment issue

I had a '01 Enduro where the rear swingarm assembly was out of alignment. The centreline axis of the chainstay assembly did not line up with the centreline axis of the seatstay assembly when it was removed from the shock link and collapsed together. I'd say it was out about 4 or 5 mm. This put a lateral load on my rear shock as it cycled through the suspension motion causing, I think, the shock to blow up on two occassions. Fortunately, I broke that bike and it was replaced under warranty with a '03 Enduro with the new Ictch shock. The first thing I did when I got the new bike was take the rear swing arm off to see if it lined up and it did. Check it out on your bike. Have you blowed up your shock yet?
