26" Hardrock sport with v-brakes to this. Purchased this 2016 SJ fsr comp 650b an hour ago. It will be in the shop for a few days before it's fully ready. Decided to go 1x, tubeless, and new pedals. Excited? Yes! But nervous to say the least. I just hope I can get used to it rather quickly.

Going to put an order in for a 2017 Stumpjumper FSR Comp 6Fattie today I think. Weighed the Carbon vs Aluminum frame and I think Alum is what I'm going to do then use extra cash for a few goodies.

Looking at the Trek Farley too is tempting but 4.6" tires I would need to ride...

Yari, Carbon, & SWAT box is worth the extra $ in my mind but that is just me.

Ughghg, now I'm getting analysis paralysis. Mainly over my front fork.

Does anyone know about geometry differences between Enduro and Stumpjumper? I see the Enduro for $200 more comes with Yari..

I'm 200lbs, like the idea of more travel.

Well after much consideration I decided to move from the Stumpy to the Enduro!!!

And I got the Enduro Enduro Elite Carbon 29/6Fattie for 4k! I really wanted a fattie but also planned on a set of regular 2.3's so this works just in reverse order.

Suspension moved from midline to top tier and carbon frame! I totally satisfied!!!

Thought I would poke in and share here since not everyone follows the Enduro thread. Did some customs graphics on my 17' E29 Elite along with 30mm stem.

I put this together over the Winter.
I liked DH so much, but a new bike wasn't in the cards.
Bought someone's project, mixed it with some gear I had around, and added a few new parts. ( It was supposed to be a quick and dirty, but I ended up touching up the paint, refinishing the fork, and a whole bunch of other Bike Love)
Came out okay, and rides awesome!

Project bike to cure the DH bug after I ran some last year on my Trek EX8. I picked up someone else's basket case project, mixed it with some spares I had.

    2006 Specialized Big Hit
    2004 Boxxer fork
It was intended to be a throw together, but I couldn't do it, and ended up fogging a fresh coat of paint and clear, and on the fork, just wanted somethin' harsh, and went with that red.
The rest just came together to include SLX brakes, and drivetrain, old skool tires, and lots of Love.
I put some time into it, and it has been a blast!

I bought this 2015 Stumpjumper Elite M5 World Cup hardtail three weeks ago off craigslist, and am loving it. It's my first new bike since my 1993 Stumpjumper FS hardtail. It is really fun to ride.

It came with a mix of original and non-original parts, and overgeared with 32x11-34 1x9 gearing. I swapped out parts to make things more versatile and for fit.

    It came with:
    90 mm SID Brain fork
    Roval Control Carbon wheels (22IW)
Purgatory Control 2.3 (57mm) front, The Captain Control 2.2 (57mm also) rear tires, set up tubeless
    Magura Storm SL 180/160 rotors
    Shimano M8000 calipers/levers with metallic Ice-Tech pads
    Specialized Phenom Comp saddle
Specialized seatpost. I shortened it 100 mm to 300 mm.
Specialized flat top/mini rise style bars cut down to 680 by previous owner. Will swap out with some 720 flat bars soon.
ESI Extra Chunky Grips - too thick for me. Will install ESI Racer's Edge when I get new bars.

    New parts:
unbranded 85 mm stem (take off)
    Shimano XT/Ultegra chain,
    XT M8000 I-Spec II 11-sp shifter,
    XT M8000 rear derailleur
SRAM XX1 170mm, 156Q crankset with 32T Direct Mount X-Sync narrow-wide. I strongly favor 170s over 175s and narrow Q, so this was the most notable feeling fit upgrade. Was lucky to get a great deal on a new one on ebay.
Race Face Chester pedals. I'm not racing anymore, and for years, would ride/commute on my old bike with running shoes on no-platform M959 SPDs. Definitely have put in more miles riding non-cycling shoes than SPD shoes on those tiny pedals, so flat pedals make much more sense. Feel just as efficient on the flat pedals, and can even pull across the bottom and back in them with the same feel as SPDs.

Currently weighs 23.8 lbs. Not bad for the about $1600 total spent. It will probably lose another 0.3 lbs or so with the wider bar/grip swap because the current bars are quite heavy (306g). When I wear out the current tires, a lighter set of 2.25"-2.35" tires could bring down to around or below 23 lbs.

I am steadily upgrading. She sat in my garage for way too long and now I am actually riding. Next up is a Pike, new brakes and rotors, and longer bars. I run about 270, so I need beefed up components over stock

Some updates. XX1 cassette, Onyx hub, XX1 chain.

The XTR/XX1 combo is the best shifting setup I've ever ran.

Not good. Those are GC 2.3^^^^^. I immediately swapped the fast trax for ground control 2.3's when I got the bike in July. I've had the fast trax before for all around riding and they do not hold a candle to the GC's in the tech or traction department. I do a lot of road miles at times to get to and from some trails and GC's are awesome for pave too. Did 12 miles round trip on the road today to get to the mountain. 6 degrees F and wind blowing 30mph haha. The fast trax woulda been useless on yesterday's ride. The GC's did great on the Snowmobile trails.

its kinda ****ed that it takes so long to get. If they have frames on hand, youd think it would take 1 week max to source parts. Week to assemble, max.

Here are some pics of my 2018 Stumpjumper Comp size L-
I think the changes are obvious (Eagle, Fox 36...) except a DT 350 in the back. Best riding bike I had so far! It doesn't need to be lower or slacker... but a bit longer would be nice. Waiting for the 2019 models!
Greetings from Germany. Its march and its freezing cold, not really a pleasure riding these days.

Real quick story about my Specialized bikes. I bought my Sirrus in 2014 so I could join my friends in biking around Minneapolis and also lose weight. I really enjoyed riding around the city and one day I came across some mtb trails and saw some people riding and thought it looked like a lot of fun. So in 2016 I bought my RockHopper Comp. My Rockhopper got stolen from my bike rack in my garage, they couldn't quite get my Sirrus so that one got left behind. I searched for sale sites and adds for 3 weeks and finally found it and got it back..for free Now my Rockhopper gets 80% of my time and effort while I just ride my Sirrus for some exercise now and then and commuting around town. After they got my Rockhopper I brought my Sirrus inside and finally built some shelves to turn them into art when they aren't being ridden. Open to suggestions for new tires on my rockhopper, I'm on dry pack single tracks for 90% of my riding. Looking for some extra control

The stormtrooper: my almost completely stock 2016 enduro expert. Bought as a used-ish demo bike. Only real upgrade is the ‘shimano index 18 speed’ sticker. I love it.

My new 2019 Fatboy SE. Specialized updated the bike this year, going to thru-axles and a threaded BB, great choices. Shes lacking a bit in the brake department but some Shimano XT's will fix that right up.

Getting to know my Fuse Comp... going to be best of buds.

Well my 2010 Camber Elite doesn't seem like much when looking at all these flash harry new bikes however the only thing that is original since purchasing is; the frame, handlebar, rear derailleur and crank... Everything else has been upgraded.

I have just purchased a few goodies to give the drive train a overhaul as that part hasn't had any love for the last 4 years.

    19’ Stumpjumper LT

    Hello all,
I thought I would share my dream build 19’ Stumpjumper S Works LT.
I’m just getting it dialed in, and coming from a steel hardtail with first time dropper post, it’s a revelation.

    Hello all,

(sorry if its not the right place)

Anyone have an idea what is the year of this rockhopper?

Probably I will buy this one from a friend of friend (who does not know much about that).

    Thanks,

I'd start by looking at bikepedia. Match up the paint scheme to the model year.

Start in the early 80's and work your way forward.

The problem of bikepedia is that the old models does not have pictures. So, its hard to say only checking components.

But I've checked the some models and I'm thinking Its a 91, 97 or 99.
It have a Shimano Deore, no suspension, its team red color... but its hard to say a 100% because I don't know the history of this bike and what was changed in the time.

Can I discover more about it with the frame number?

    tks,

    tks,
Ahh, I didn't realize photos were lacking from those older model years.
I'm not aware of uses with a frame number but good question.

    I have a 2000 Stumpjumper and it's the M2 frame.
There aren't many similarities in the one you posted compared to my 2000 model. Unless the hardrock is really that much different than a stumpy

As a consideration to a purchase, I'd check for cracks (if you haven't already. Check all the welds especially at the head tube and chain stays at the bottom bracket. Flip it over and give it a good look-see. Check for worn bearings (just an idea if you will need to perform maintenance when you take it over.

    My 2004 Stumpjumper FS Comp

And my new Chisel Comp X1. Really liking everything about the Chisel. Climbs like a cat, loving X1, like tubeless tires, like wide bars.

last year before the AR went RA - found it for a deal - ridden twice and then hung in garage. I used it mainly for donor frame and misc parts since I had drivetrain/rigid fork/seatpost&saddle.

kinda went full commit to a flat bar only stable - sold off gravel and road bikes - so this is gonna be the "do all"/commuter/gravel/paved trail bike

    and pocket federal paper pieces!

My brand new second hand rockhopper comp 2018

Id love to hear of what upgrades could be done on this, i picked it up for £350 so have some cash left for upgrades. Thinking of getting a shorter stem as the current one is 100mm and some propper flat pedals.A dedicated thread to show off your Specialized bike-file-3.jpg
