Where to ride in NE TN?

So I'm fairly new to north east TN, but the places I ride are just not that technical. Wondering if I'm missing some places that might be close.
    I do Winged Deer
    ETSU trails
    Bays Mtn
    Warrior Path
    Hampton watershed
    Buffalo Mtn

Any other places within say an hour would be appreciated.

Have you checked out Windrock? Start with XC side just down the hill from the campground. Once you feel confident, head over to the DH side for some of the rowdiest riding in the country.

Have you been to Tannery Knob? I keep hearing about that but haven't been there myself.

Havent been to Windrock (2 hours away) , but Tannery Knobs takes all of 5 mins to get to the bottom. Then climb back up. Repeat. Its fun but too short. And only 2 trails. I was there twice and in about a half hour I did everything.

I heard about a place in Bristol VA but havent got there yet. Steele Creek in Bristol TN is ok but a LOT of climbing-lol.

I heard that Beech and Sugar Mtns in NC do biking in the summer, have to check into that more also. But both are 90 mins from me.

Have you been out to Paint Creek? I almost went out there when I was in the area for work. Looks like it might be what you are looking for

Paint Creek has some fun steep descents. I would wait till fall though as some trails get overgrown in the summer

You can see everything in your area by going to MTB Project or TrailForks.

While not in state, Beartree Gap and Iron Mountain near Damascus VA are about an hour from JC. Good all around riding and some natural root\rock tech. Easy to find trail info and a bikepacking loop as well. Iron Mountain is a former section of the AT, so it's about as close as you'll get to riding the GSMNP trails, complete with a couple of shelters. I've enjoyed riding there.

Get on Mtb project and start exploring. I live in Elizabethton and here are my go to spots. Holston Mnt, Paint Creek, Wilson Creek in NC ( about 45 min from Elizabethton. Iron Mnt in Damascus( a little over a hour from Jc) These spots will get you more tech riding and longer dh. Also feel free to hit me up [email protected] I dont mind showing folks around. There is for sure alot more riding around than just our city parks.

Thanks for the invite Lord. But to warn you, I'm not a real fast rider. I'm old and would rather explore at a steady pace instead of ripping it up.

I was out there today doing the Paint Creek Ride and as long as I was on route it wasn't too bad. The fire road was a little grown up where the sun gets through.
