Forums now moved to a new server

Please report here if you see any problems.

There may be some caching issues with your internet service provider but that should go away after a few hours/days.

cool. page loads seem to take a little longer (I assume because of caching), and they occasionally hang for quite awhile before loading (which seems different).

Any timeline for the rest of the forum changes?

    Yes, slow page loads.

Also can't access user settings pages (e.g. "Edit Profile"). Getting an HTTP ERROR 500, "This page isnít working. forums.mtbr.com is currently unable to handle this request."

I just get a blank white page now. (Firefox on Windows 10)

It has been "a while" since I last visited.

No need to mention page loads. How about a positive? Seems that now when you click on an uploaded pic, it doesn't load the pic in a new page, but rather in "Lightbox" style. Much better that way. Thanks

Page loads seem a bit sluggish; otherwise situation normal

fc- out of techno geek curiosity- can you give us an idea of how much data and what sort of server(s) MTBR runs on?

    Cheers!

For those of you that are experiencing slow page loading, how slow are we talking here? Like 1 second delay or more?

On up to like 6-7 seconds sometimes.

I just got a new PC and it's super fast, like instantly loading of most web pages. It feels like I'm back on my old machine here.

There are multiple new threads reporting errors.

    I don't know if I'm overstepping.....

Would it be helpful if those that post a complaint also post:
Device being used -Android, Apple, Computer and version of browser. Browser name.

My Windows 7 PC using Firefox at home, Chrome at work, have no problems at all.
I never log in with any mobile device to know if mobile works.

The site had always loaded fast, as fast as any other site I frequent. For example, the "New Posts" link would load literally in about a second. Now it's 5 seconds. My bookmark landing page is 4-5 seconds now too. Maybe it doesn't seem like much, but with a site this big and busy, 4-5 seconds on every click gets old fast.

    Hope that helps.

Oh, might want to take the "Quick" out of the "Post Quick Reply" button.

When you see another thread please comment in it and direct people to this thread to comment here. Lost of little complaints spread far and wide don't get much traction, one thread with many people reporting the same thing does. So far the majority of people posting about this are from the OC so will probably be on managements ignore list.

+1, exactly the same here. 5 to 6 seconds to load a page. Little bit quicker if there isn't many pics on it. Then a second or two later everything "drops" down the page as the banner ad kicks in. So it's slower to load, then when it does you go to click on a button and it moves on you. Very frustrating.

Delays for me range from a couple seconds on up to maybe 30sec. Can't figure out why some are so long, but the typical delay is much shorter. Only occasionally do I get the longer ones.

My computer is no slouch, either. Win10, Chrome, Intel Core i7-8700k (3.7GHz), 16GB RAM, 100MB/sec fiber optic internet connection.

Got a new error a few minutes ago. Super detailed explanation of the problem.

it has been faster last 24 hours. almost like before....now just a couple seconds and just once in a while, vs every page load being 6+ seconds. most times (70%) pages loads are as fast as before

I wish! Even the browser's BACK button yields a slow page load

You know what's going to happen, like gas prices nothing is going to get done about it for whatever reason, and eventually it'll become the norm and the issue will seemingly go away. We'll just get used to it.

Clicking the settings button which takes you to your new posts in subscribed threads section now clears that section the first time you view it. Previously you could click on a thread, see the new comments then go back and do the next thread. Not anymore.

it's wrecking posts now. acting totally corrupt

if you are doing maintenance on the db you should lock these forums and do it,

if not, then the database is now actively corrupting live data

"New Posts" yields little or no results for me. This has been going on for a while.

Often times it will only show results from the last 30-60 minutes. It used to show results for the previous 8 hours.

Based on my test just now, NO, Mobile users are not getting discriminated against. Sounds more like an issue with either your 4G coverage from ATT or an issue with your phone's internet Cache.

My Iphone works fine when I'm on a WiFi connection. It when I have to use the cellular data/4G/LTE.

It's not on my end....the phone worked perfectly fine up until the server change 2 weeks ago. Considering that others had the same issue....it not just me.

I have cleared out the cache/history/data for all 3 of the browsers I have, even rebooted the phone. The same error message comes up regardless of browser.

Again, I can view threads if I am NOT logged into my profile. Once I login...I cannot view any threads.

On one of my computers, I cannot read the threads while logged in. If I log out, I can read the threads.

Both computers run Windows 7. The problem computer will not read threads using Firefox or Internet Explorer. Firefox is my default. I have cleared the cache and all that business but with no success to the reading forms while logged in. Tried on IE and same error.

Telling me a missing field called ip is missing -or something like that.

This sounds similar to post #58 by mtnbikej just above, however I'm on a computer, not a phone. First I noticed was sometime Wednesday morning.

They can only read the thread when logged out, and therefore cannot respond.
And when it works for them intermittently, it's too slow to load.

Since my system has come back from the IP error it has been slower access, several days now I guess if I had to target it.

getting bumped from main page. Took your advice about clearing cache which works if it s high but it also bums me with less than 100 MB Cached which its never done before. It could be the work firewall - bandwidth limits crap as well.

So if type forums.mtbr.com theres no problem...strange...

Was getting this one sporadically yesterday.

Just got an "Error 502: Bad Gateway" error, also.

Did the new server come from a crackerjack box?

I seem to get this pretty much on a bi-weekly if not monthly basis.
Thought the forum software was going to be updated after the new ownership and everything. I understand that takes a bit of time but this forums functionality has not changed since I started on here in 2010ish.

A constant and seemingly unnecessary alert. Pretty annoying really.

Is anyone ever going to do anything about this???????

I still sporadically get all of the above error pages. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to them. I think the new server was a major downgrade.

I had one of those db errors within the past week or so... otherwise it has been smooth sailing for me.

    thank you.

well last night I bumped 10 separate threads in this forum area on the same subject listing numerous users over the last 7 or 8 months who are also seeking help.

is anyone at the Admin level even acknowledging and trying to resolve the problem? I only ask because the general consensus from a number of people whoíve been stuck for 6+ months is that they havenít seen any indication that there is on either point.

Seems like it has to be costing this site participation, assuming that matters. Iím about to hang it up myself. I see that itís come up on Vbulletin discussion sites a few years back, but nothing recent. That tends to suggest itís not a software function issue. Seeing as this is the only Vbulletin forum where the problem is occurring that there must be a configuration error somewhere.

Agreed on all counts, this shit is getting old. I've had 3-4 blocked page loads today and lost the same amount of posts because there was a "bad gateway" or some other error.

The bottom line is that nobody is listening. Clearly MTBRADMIN or whatever his name is hasn't checked in to this forum in a long time.

Perhaps we'll have to push the envelope and see how much it takes to get a reaction.

I'll send a PM now, and see what happens. (not expecting much) If no response is received, I'll start a thread this weekend and see if we can rally the troops. (I promise it won't go unnoticed).

The irony here is I read this latest post, closed the thread then decided to reply. When I reloaded the thread I was directed to the bad gateway page. haha

Anyway, it would at least be nice if the folks in charge would at least tell us there isn't anything can/will do.

If we know we have to live with it, so be it. Just please tell us that there will not be any action taken to address some of the issues.

^ yeah, no joke. I just got another one. What's telling to me is that it doesn't just happen during high traffic times, it can happen any time. Very annoying.

For the record I PM'd FC and MTBRadmin with a link to the "forum feedback" page. I'm not expecting a personal reply, and don't need one, but it would be nice to see someone pay attention to the "issues" that have been presented by users.

Don't know what you are all complaining about, they apologised for the inconvenience.

    Haha.

Probably also explains why site traffic is way down.

It's a small part of a bigger problem.

Apparently Jenson and Bikes Direct are paying the bills for now, but as the site hits continue to diminish, I'm wondering how long they (owners/admins) will continue to let this place digress until they do something about it.

Well, Here's the response I got from MTBRadmin.

Not sure what exactly he means by "tagged", but clearly he doesn't seem concerned and just told me to go away.

    Anyone else care to try?

If it is what I think it is, you use the @ symbol in front of a user name, select their name from a list and they are notified.

That is usually referred to as a "mention" as far as I know it.

However, that is not enabled on our forum. I asked to have it implemented when they switched software last year. They were going to see "what they can do" to get that and several other things incorporated.

I've tested the items I asked about and none of them work.

If the "mention" works today, @*onespeed* will receive notification.

Also, the IP error came back tonight. I guess the forum is going to be in read-only mode until I reboot. Not doing it in the near future. I just did it a couple days ago for other reasons.

MTBR forums must have some security tool in place to prevent uses from reading threads while logged in for a week or longer.
