I had a fixie built up, and I hedged my bet with a fixed/free flip-flop hub. I just wanted another bike to add to the collection and wanted to give fixed riding a try. The simplicity of it and the potential physical benefits interested me.

Several months later, I wish that I didn't get the flip flop... fun stuff. And it does make me appreciate downhills on my other (freewheel) bikes.

I ride a fixed track bike to work in a really hilly area. I like letting it rip down hills then trying to stop. However, I don't have the nads to try fixed in the woods yet. I'm thinking about how I would get over some of the rocks and logs, and how I would get through some of the narrow turns with banks to the inside. I just don't see it happening, but I like to try stuff.

    Poll:

Why does oreophilus like to post these inflammatory threads?

    1. Because he got kicked out of F-88.

    2. Because he's got nothing better to do.

    3. Because he secretly want to ride a fixie/singlespeed but is too scared.

    4. Because he likes to pick on people that are different.

    5. Because he can't spell thrill (trill).

    6. Because if he tried one of these polls in the 29er forum, someone's head might explode.

This poll is meant entirely as a parody. Joke, it's a joke people.

I ride SS because somtimes I don't like to think about gears. For a real challenge I like to ride SS/29er/rigid. No thinking at all. Just mash the $hit out of the pedals and hope the bike goes.

    I got my bike fixed...

because it kept knocking up all my friends bikes.

Seriously, I dont think I can really explain why I do ANYTHING I do on a bike. I like to try new things, and when people ask why, I usually shrug my shoulders.

Most of the time when people ask, I think they have already made up their mind that there is no good answer anyway....

z: because he has run out of "really stupid" things to post and moved on to "insanely moronic" material. You would have the same problem if you posted over 5 times a day for a year and a half straight.

Because I had some extra flip-flop hubs laying around. The decision was that simple. All of these cheese puff "why ride a SS, why ride a fixie" threads seem so sensless. Why can't it just be for a new cycling experiance, a diversion from the usual?
