I run Hayes hydros on my 1x1 and never have a problem. I regularly change the wheelbase (for road rides) by changing cogs and chain lengths. I never have to touch the caliper.

I run my 1x1 with XT discs and do not have to adjust the brakes.

I did for 4 months till the frame broke.
My wife currently runs discs on her 1x1.
Not a problem with alignment at all.
Note: we use Avid's which can adjust alignment on their own too.

i have magura's which i've never had to adjust on my current frame and as far as i can tell they cant be adjusted other than moving the entire caliper around..atleast they look nothing like my older avid mechs. i didnt install these maguras because i had no hydro experience last year but theyve been maintenance free since. i'd like to get juiceys for the surly but they are so frickin' expensive i'm having a hard time to justify plus i dont really need that beefy of a brake most likely.

basically the reason i asked this ? is because i dont want to have to be adjusting the caliper all the time because it's so hard to see the pads inside to align the things...rim brakes arent an option because my wheelset is disc only and i refuse to dump a 500 dollar wheelset for rim brakes Juiceys seem like the next best bet since they are easy to adjust like the mech's.
