    Where's your gears?

I pulled up to the trail head with my superfly in tow. I parked next to a dad and is two sons. I got out and put on all my gear while one of kids were eyeing my bike. As I got it down I hear....
    "where's your gears?"
    I said "there's three gears."
The dad laughed and said "yeah, siting, standing and walking."
The kid looked at me and asked"why?"
    I said "gears confuse me."

    That satisfied him.

I've decided that from now on, I'm going to tell people that my gears fell off my bike while I was riding, and I couldn't find them.
Sometimes, I question the value of my content.

Ha, I'd always just said 2 gears (sitting and standing) never thought about walking but I certainly do some of that time to time!

I was told cursing was also a gear.

    Right inbetween standing and walking.

A guy said to me as I passed him "One of those singlespeed fast bastards."

I have a bell setup just like a rear shifter, I just tell people it's there just in case I want to.

In a race I passed a geared rider on a climb. He said, "How do you do that?" and then, "I hate you!" Ordinarily this would have stroked the ego nicely, but since he was not in my class, and since I'd been passed by a geared rider who *was* in my class on an earlier climb, I was pretty meh.
