wow - blast from the past!

That was the article that got me into mountain biking! My parents had a subscription to Mother Earth News...I couldn't have been more than 13-14, but I read that article and knew immediately that's what I had to get into! Took me a few years to gather the funds for a proper mountain bike but before that I started riding my BMX rig on long dirt road tours and building single track through the woods on our land in rural Oklahoma. Great times - I've often thought back to that article but its probably buried in storage somewhere. Thanks for the memory!

Ross was the first mtb I rode in 84

Wasn't crazy about it. Was slow compared to my road bike. But it was exciting hearing about Joe Breeze and the guys at Mt Tam.
20 years ago at this time was my first year racing vet in USCF.
Also was shooting sports in Texas and was covering Connie C, Rebecca T, Alexei, Davis, etc.at the Tour of Texas which I think was in April 84 but my memory is gone. Actually had a good interview with Jeannie Longo who's still racing now.
Started ridng mtb a lot in 1989.
    Man, that makes me old.

My cruiser is a bike from that era>>>>>

bought it from a neighbour last year who had it in his basement for almost 20 years so its pretty much stock - a NORCO Sasquatach - looks just like the pictures. Its a SS now for cruisin in the city. All I did to it was some longer cranks and replaced the grips.

    20 yrs ago...........

I was in seventh grade and thought Madonna was the hottest thing in the Material Girl video. I was a chess club nerd who wore glasses and was never picked for any sports teams until the very end. Now I ride 4000-5000 miles a year mtn and road bike, climb mountains, backcountry ski, etc. I never would have believed it myself. MKD
