    Wheels Manufacturing EBB

    Hi, I'm finishing off a Rohloff and wanted to use a PF30 Niner EBB, but it is proving very, very hard to get one in Europe. My builder has recommended to use a Wheels Mfg EBB. Does anyone have nay experience with Wheel Mfg EBBs?

    I used one in a Ridley carbon frame last year. Wheels told me not to torque it past 8nm, but I was constantly readjusting my chain tension. I was a little paranoid about over torquing it and crushing my bb shell. Could be that it needed more to prevent slipping, but I wasn't willing to risk it.

    I have the wheels mfg. EBB in PF30 on my wife's hard tail-- specialized SJ carbon. Both of us really like the unit. No detectable slippage and no damage to carbon bottom bracket torqued to 8nm. The bearings are great and it has performed very well. Very satisfied and highly recommended.Wheels Manufacturing EBB-p1010766.jpg

    Have not used one myself but know a couple of guys from my club that loved them. No creaking/slipping issues. Not carbon frames though so don't know how that affects things.

    Another option to consider:
    BEER Components

    The Beer EBB has some nice knurling on the inside faces of the BB ends that seems like it would keep it from slipping. The few pics I've seen showing that side, it's not really visible, so the Wheels unit may have something similar.

    I've been pretty happy with mine so far, no slippage in the alloy frame it's in. Shimano crankset was VERY snug during installation though.

    Benefits I see to the Wheels unit:
    * Price
    * Specific version to run GXP cranks w/o adapter.

    Benefits to the Beer unit:
    * Single EBB can run most any crankset around (including, for the PF30 version, 30mm axle options)
