What chain should i run on my ss?

I have a basic kmc 7 speed chain on my bike. Just got a new salsa chainring and now i need a new chain since the kmc is stretched. I was wonder what chains you guys would recommend running? I was looking at a kmc half link but not sure what my best option is. Thanks for the help.

I would say the same kind that came on your bike. I have a salsa 32t coming in the mail next week

My chainring and cog are sized for 9 speed chains. So I run a good 9 speed chain.

Apparently, half link chains tend to stretch more than "normal" chains. Makes sense: the plates are all bent, so there's more opportunities to deform.

I tend to run 8 speed chains for SS. SRAM 850.

SRAM 890 or 850 are what I run with no problems. That said I haven't really had any problems with other chains.

Im happy with 8 speed for now. Not too much $ and not too heavy. SRAM 870s for a year and not one issue.
