trek 7000 ss?

im about to buy a 1991 trek 7000 for 50 dollars off the local ad. I was wondering if any one had any similar old builds? I want to make it a ss with a manitou slr fork and new bars and stem. Should i or should i not is the question...

From the 5 minutes of research I did, that bike came with an 1 1/8" threaded headset. So if it's a newer fork you'd have to go to a threadless headset and stem to make it work. That said, if it's in good shape, why not? There's also a vintage forum on here as well. Might want to check there.

I am in the process of converting my 1997 Trek 6000 into a SS. It will be for the evening rides with the family during the summer.
