    Trek 69er

Can a Trek 69er 3x9 frame be converted to SS? If so ist there a complete kit or what would I be looking at?

    Thanks,

    Marty

Just like any other geared bike it can.

Could be cheap or expensive depending on your goals.

Cheap: just a $50 conversion kit with spacers, a cog and a tensioner. Take off the casette, put on the spacers so the chainline is straight and tension the chain with the tensioner. Done.

Better: Take off the granny, replace the big ring with a bash guard. Spacers and cog in the rear. Half link to get the right chain length, no tensioner needed but chain stretch might leave you slack at some point.

Best: Eno eccentric hub for tension, dedicated SS cranks/chainring.

This advice goes for any geared to SS really.

I have considered this option on my Trek 69er as well.

It is easy to do--fairly inexpensively...
