Cool-blue Rhythm Tour Divide 2018- Singlespeed rider takes second place overall!

This guy has apparently got quite a motor on him...

Congrats to Bailey Newbrey for completing the 2018 race with only one speed! 1st in class, 2nd overall.

I think so, I read that he had problems with Woodsmoke flexing and had to up the size of both chainring and cog to fix it.

edit: Read it on The Radavist

Damn, can you imagine 40X20 on tight single track with punchy climbs!!!

I have wondered about the Woodsmoke as a single speed... For some reason I kinda felt like the elevated CS would allow some unwanted flex.

    From his instagram account...
"[email protected] ended up swapping cranks a coupla weeks before the start. Ran a 38x19 with a KMC 1/8” track chain. It was awesome. I only tensioned the chain once the entire ride."

Anyway you cut it 2:1 is burly. Chris Plesko ran a 32x16 on his record setting run in 2016. Both beasts to push that stiff a gear for 2700+ miles!

Yeah, see complaints about the Stache for SS same reason, not everyone though.

    - the Tour Divide riders are far tougher than the Tour De France riders; self-supported, more miles, and tougher terrain.........go figure..........

Sorry, but ignoring the apples to oranges comparison, that’s just laughable.
