    Time for a new hub

I've broken my axle a second time in about six months.

It's the stocker that came with my '04 unit.

I'm looking for something in a stronger hub for ~$150.

    Any suggestions?

I'll be the first to say you can't go wrong with WI ENO. That being said there are quiet a few nice SS hubs out there for quite a bit less than that, Surly for example.
    Slowly slipping to retrogrouchyness

First, I agree with the ENO. Secondly, what's that metal plate bolted into your dropouts? Is it a spacer for the hub or is it allowing you to mount the axle past the drop out??

I'm not really positive I know what you mean, but I think your asking about the dropout itself. It's a standard Kona slider.

How about a right side up picture a little further out to clarify.

    Good job!

I have Surly/Paul and Real brand hubs on my SS's.

They all perform equally for me, and I love 'em all the same. Surly is readily available, and I can't kill 'em, in spite of many years trying!

Surly. Cheap/strong and "relatively" light.....perhaps my only argument for KB.
