    They seem rather angry

    http://www.1fg.org/

They seem to want to sell you something. But they're also coming across quite unnecessarily angry. As if someone stole their derailleurs when they were kids crapping their pants and so they're now striking back at the world by acting all H4RDC0R3!!!! ARRGGHHHH!!!!

But, seriously. What the eff. I know it's supposed to be 'funny' or summat, but puh-leeze.

It is hard core n' stuff...as if taking HBFK.com to the extreme. Sure I say expletives in the HBFK.com blog, but its a matter of "sentence enhancers."

    Would this be offensive?

    No good Fashion statement

Fifty bucks? Kind of steep for a wimpy little 3mm bash guard.

Why do you need a bash guard on a single speed anyways?

Why is it shaped like a saw blade?

must be a macho man thing in my book.

Gotta give them praise for the sawblade look. Perfect for peeling gnomes and scaring ground squirrels (i have a freakin' chipmunk problem a la Caddyshack in my back yard).

I make my own bash guards out of alu cans and duct tape. Mash the cams with a mallet, duct tape the sucker to the chainring, tennnis balls on the spokes.

My leg's much better. Thanks for asking. Stretching and listening to Cibo Matto helped a lot.

All hard-core, angry, "sentence-enhancing" people are associated with saw blades at some point in their careers.
    The 3mm of aluminum certainly isn't hard-core.
Website even says they look cool.

$50 for a bashring? are they on crack? a bashring that looks like it wouldn't take much bashing anyhow?

Spot brand. nice and thin, light, and in many sizes for half the price. or Salsa. i like the nice beefy Salsa basher i've got on my geary. stands up to abuse, and costs a lot less money.

    Smile I.O.N. 1 F. Clue!

Yeah, I came across this website and felt the same way. And honestly, when I went singlespeed (way back before it was cool, of course), I was guilty of a little testosterone overkill about it as well, sort of lording my "purity" over those poor misbegotten souls who were still shackled to their spineless little sissy geared bikes. I'm sad to say that a "Derailleurs are for Failures" bumpersticker once graced the back of my truck. But I was but a wee lad in my thirties then, and I've since figured out that arrogance is simply a more obnoxious form of insecurity, that not everyone has to be into what I'm into, that if everone was I'd complain about the bandwagon-jumpers, that there's a place for every kind of bicyle in this world (even recumbents, I suppose), and that being "hardcore" is a pretty childish pursuit, especially since--like the Corvette or Hummer driver knows all too well--it's usually a transparent compensation for something that's lacking in a person, whether it's the girth of certain masculine parts or simple maturity (it was the latter in my case, of course). So now I look at the 1 FG website as a small reminder not to take yourself too seriously in whatever you do because, frankly, no one else does either.

I agree with the Hummer statement but I'll tell ya a ZO6 Corvette driven at 100% on a track is like your favorite trail with perfect traction....perma grin.

I'd be angry too if I was trying to enter the bashguard market about 5 years too late and my costs were double the going rate...
