    Tensioner

Can I use a flip flop hub (18 & 20 tooth freewheels) with a tensioner like the Rennen? I understand that I have to readjust the tension but does the design leave enough range to do this?

Depends on the Tensioner. I used a Rennen on my CX bike for a while, and it gave a limited range because of the slot the fixing boil goes through. I was pretty close to a magic gear with the 46/20, so I didn't have silly amounts of slack to take up with an 18t.

With a spring loaded tensioner you should be alright.

Thanks. I am currently using a tensioner with a spring and the spring is not strong enough. I may try the Surly pushing up.
