    Sun Tour 2-slot freewheel

    Hello,

I have an early (mid '80's) Mongoose ATB that I want to convert. According to Sheldon Browns website, I've got a 2-slot Sun Tour freewheel. What are my options for converting this rear wheel to SS? It's an old bike and I'll be pounding the neighborhood streets chasing my kids around, so I'm not too interested in spending tons of money on this project. Dropouts are semi-horizontal if that makes sense. Also, what gearing should I consider for "Neighborhood" duty?

    Thanks in advance!

Seems like I should be able to screw on a BMX freewheel. I'm concerned about spacing though. Do these usually just line up right?

No. I've had to move a large (1" ?) spacer from the drive side to the other side, then redish the wheel. You may need different length spokes as well.
