    This is a race?

I took my rigid SS down to Raystown last summer not really knowing if it would be a good choice there or not. Turns out it was the perfect bike for the flowy trails there. Had a blast.

this is a race only if you want to call it that.
this event is more about riding bikes ,hanging with your buds and drinking beer...............

Everyone around me seems to be boycotting it because its not a very representative place to hold the event, but I'll be there - been waiting years for this! It may not be very representative of PA, but it might be the best place I've been for single speeding.
Yeah I only carry cans cause I'm a weight weenie.

There are some concerns but I have been taking care of the few who are concerned.
central PA is rocky but the rest is not. Raystown was my decision due to other issues
than rocks. we will be riding some trails that are new and have not been rode by anyone.
If anyone around you have some concerns have them send me a pm or email
    at [email protected]

    thanks for your support

    Boycotting? That's ridiculous.
There's a lot more that goes into planning an event like this than finding the toughest trails in PA. You need permits, insurance, and facilities to accommodate 350 drinking mountain bikers for a weekend. Just come with some friends and have fun.

I tend to agree, I'm bummed that some of my friends aren't going to be there but hoping they come around in time. Thanks for all the effort you've put into this Doug - should be really fun. Now you've got me excited about these new trails...

My son and me are hoping to make it. He's 16, but he's been pretty tough on his SS and the trails there are his favorite place to ride. Is there more detail on the itinerary--is it suitable for "under age?"

I will need to check about age with the insurance company that might be a issue.
But the ride itself will be. there will be beer and whiskey at the after party and crazy bike stuff.
for the most part if you are ok with your son around people drinking beer and having a good time you should be fine. If it gets to out of control you can just head back to your camp site.

Sounds good. He's learned responsibility through watching his irresponsible father and friends. Hoping to make the trip up this Sunday, hopefully we'll run into you again!

Trying to have an open mind about this... the trails in the area are worth a fair dinkum of a drive.

That said, anyway to find out about the lodging logistics WITHOUT registering first?

Camping registration opens on Feburary 19th
Camping is available at Seven points and Susquehannock camp grounds
Seven points has electric and showers. Susquehannock is rustic
The camping fills up fast if you are camping I would reserve a spot ASAP…
If camping at seven points try to book the ridge (RCAM) or Meadow (MCAM) camping ares first.

(some links here that seem to have codes embedded limiting access to registrants)

There are hotels in the town of Huntingdon, PA . (10 minutes away)
    Fairfield Inn
    Comfort Inn
    Huntington Motor Lodge

Yeah, I've ridden Raystown two or three times at the Trans-Sylvania Epic. The trails are not my cup of tea necessarily, but...

I love riding in the area, and Raystown can be fun. Knowing that there's going to be a party full of ding dongs up there is enticing. I'm still on the fence about what to do from mid-July until the end of the year. This event does conflict with Breck Epic, but obviously there's a different vibe.

That and I've never been to one SSUSA.

Of course there's a FacePage for SSUSA.

Still on the fence about going, but my two cents. Raystown is one of the prefect places for a mountain bike festival/race. Dirtfest is there and its a great time. The Seven point camping spots are fantastic. The trails are very SS friendly, even with all the climbing. There is one **cough cough** "technical section". If done right this place is a blast.

I'm not a blogger nor an industry insider, but I am a d-bag. Does that help?

I registered recently, but didn't get any more details in an email just yet. Since I stumbled across this thread I might as well ask...

Are we responsible for reserving our own campsite at Susquehannock or Seven Points Campgrounds?

    OR

Will there be group tent camping allowed somewhere near the event?

    Thanks!
