The lads have knocked up a killer course with far too much climbing for we effete hipsters who ride SS, and then, not content with knackering us with a climb to 200m, are set to terrify/injure/excite us with the steep rooty descents through the forest, replete with jaggy stumps, impaling branches, and deep hidden ruts. (There's 2,000m of climbing in total if you do the full race).

I went for a look today but being easily diverted carried on from the top of the course another 250m up to the Fyrish monument on the next hill (450m). Seeing as it's a local landmark, it would be rude not to. It's a wee bit steep though and just about killed me on the 1x1 SS.

The monument is the pimple on the top of this hill

It was brilliant but brutal, really brutal. I only managed one lap and was totally blown. Definitely the toughest SS course I have seen.

Temperatures that remind me of the North of Oz, killer descents, and lung blowing climbs.

The winners truly deserve the titles of European champions.

A lot of the field bailed at the beer stop and didn't complete even one lap. They were the smart ones.

I got 4th equal. (Singlespeeders will understand )

I'm shy and don't like publicity, so I always aim for 4th equal.
