SS team gets 2nd at 24 hours Laguna...

Team 2:1 out of Santa Rosa, CA got 2nd place in the 4-person category at Laguna Seca. We were racing against all geared teams and actually lead for the first 12 hours. We lost first place by about 13 minutes.

We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the physical punishment that accompanied this event. I can say that when I was at the bottom of the 2+ mile fireroad hill climb with a steady head wind at 2:00am, I wish I had my geared rig. Luckily, I didn't bring it to temp me. All four of us completed 7 laps.

I just wanted to let you all know.

and my racer Tony Smith. I was pit support for the winner of the National Championship Solo SS race. It was Tony's second 24 hour race (1st was a couple weeks ago at Temecula on a 4 man team) and first Solo race, He completed 18 laps. I also was pitting for Dan Breyer who finished the race in fifth place. The guys had a great race!

    may by the bay??

I haven't heard about that. What's the dealeo? Yah, eric munsie put in a 52 for his first lap that's including the run. He later threw down a 45.

I wished I had come by your campsite. I guess you could say I was a little busy. Our rest times between laps went by sooooo fast. Just enough time to refill my bottle, grab a bite to eat, and chill for a little while.

    hats off to solo sser...

Man, 18 laps on an ss, that is amazing. That course was getting so thrashed by early sunday morning. Question.......what gearing did he run? We all ran 2:1 gearing for the entire event but I can't even imagine the pain of pulling 1200 vertical feet every lap for 18 laps pushing a 2:1 ratio.

I was a good gear to spin with especially since he was racing the National course (that added an extra climb and a bout 2 miles). I was able to ride the course on Friday (SyCip Diesel 34 X 20) and boy was that course windy. Yikes!

    Congrats to your team!

    Thanks,
