    SS kits, any good??????

While I try to figure out if I can sort out the magic gear thing, has anyone out there bought and used any of the all in one kits for SS conversions. I see that Origin8 is making one. Spacers, cogs, and tensioner, all in one kit.

I was going with Endless spacers, Surly cogs, and Rennen tensioner(probably), but some of these kits seem right for the money. But sometimes it is to good to be true.

    Any thoughts out there?

I used a cheapy ($20-25) Nashbar kit and it was ok. The 3 cogs were steel BMX cogs like Shimano's, aluminum spacers good as any, and a push down spring loaded tensioner. Not a fan of these but it worked for cruising around town. The Surley Singleator in push up mode or a fixed Rennen eliminates any possible chain skipping when really torqueing the cranks. Not a time when you want chain skip if you know what I mean. IMO, I would just get what you really want the first time. Especially the tensioner. Certainly nothing wrong with $6 BMX cogs and cheap aluminum spacers.
