    SS in Hawaii

    Hello, there.<O</O
Is there anyone on this forum that has ridden SS in Hawaii? If so, what gear ratio? Is SS in Hawaii feasible or should I go with a (dare I say it...gears) 1x9 set up? My soon-to-be in-laws live on Oahu and I am going to fly a bike out there and leave it.<O</O

Also, I could run a nice set of V-brakes or a slightly less dependable set of Hayes Hydros (I'd bring my bleed kit with and leave it there). I was leaning toward the discs because of all of the mountains, long downhills. Any opinions?<O</O

P.S. Any locals that would be willing to show me around the trails???

I rode the loop around Maui on a Huffy Santa Fe cruiser one speed, pulling a trailer. I boiled the grease out of the back-pedal brake! Brakes are nice in Hawaii.
