    SS-ers around NW-Atlanta?

2farfwd's post about riding with singlespeeders versus gearies got me thinking...all my regular riding buds are gearies and I wonder what a big group SS ride would be like. I don't know too many other SS-ers around these parts so I'm looking to see who all rides singlespeeds around the NW-Atlanta area. I'm in Acworth. Am I alone up here?

Aaargh...you're killing me! I can't get away from work that week, but I'm still planning on heading out that way sometime this year. Stupid work...keeps interfering with my riding.

There was a SORBA organized SS ride in Atlanta a few weeks back I think, and they're planning more I expect. Check the forums at sorba.org.

    And what's FFTF?

    Fruita Fat Tire Festival.

I saw the postings for that ride but couldn't make it. Maybe I'll cross-post my personal ad there (lonely singlespeeder looking for same...must have own bike)!

There aren't too many of us that I know of. A couple people in the Woodstock SORBA chapter have singlespeeds but for some reason I just don't seem to be able to hook up with them very often. Where do you usually ride? I'm typically around Elijay (Bull, Bear, Mountaintown, etc) when I can get away from Atlanta.

I love all of those trails in NGA and of course Tsali and Ocoee are favorites, but here lately (due to family and job demands on time) I mostly ride the Berry College trails--30,000 acres of fireroads and some singletrack --all SS'able and some quite remote. You rarely encounter other riders, horses, or hikers so it is the opposite of Blankets Creek which is borderline dangerous on the weekends IMHO

    Blankets does get busy.

I've never ridden Berry College. Maybe in a week or two I'll try to get the ss-ers I know from around here together and I'll post a ride for there. It would be nice to have an ss-guide!

Thanks, that's what I thought. I just couldn't figure out how it was coming up so casually in a conversation about GA.

Some of us here in Georgia had been hoping to make it out west for the FFTF this year and we've been keeping in touch with KgB about it (he's the guy who got me into ss-ing back before he left Georgia for the promised land).

Hmm. Maybe I need to pay better attention.

Speaking of FTFs, anyone going to Helen? Hickory Nut is quite entertaining on an SS....
