    SS conversion complete

I converted Kona Blast to a SS earlier this year, and the best way I found to tension my chain was with the "ghettolater", ie, a the deore deraillier with the bottom half of the cage hacked off. (singlater didn't work that well)

It worked fine, but I dropped the chain occassionally, and suffered from severe chain skip under heavy uphill loads (I'm 220 lbs).

Last week, I picked up a bmx 16t cog, 1/8" chain, and a half link, and now I'm tensioner and chainskip free. Perfect tension and chain line.

I also put on some mech. disc brakes that came of my squishy, and they are far superior to the Tektro V-brakes that came on the bike originally.

I don't have pics to post, but I'm loving the SS silence.

    half-link?

Where'd you find a half-link? I asked my LBS about one and he said he never heard of such a thing. I'll try anything to avoid using a tensioner.

You can also try www.danscomp.com It's all bmx stuff, but there are alot of similarities between BMX and SS.

Nice. I just ordered up a link from Spicer. Will probably hit up Danscomp for a cog once I get the gearing figured out.

    Thanks!
