SS cog and chain won't play nice???

So i have had 2 different cogs, both gusset, one 13t and one 14t. neither of them work on a regular 9 speed chain that i have been running for a while. i also have a 16t and a 18t that do work fine.

on the 13 and 14 the chain is too narrow every other link (on the skinny links). So when i pedal the chain stays on top of the teeth.

anyone else have this problem? will a single speed or 8 speed chain fix it? I know the 9 are narrower but it seems it needs alot of room to be able to work.

Depends exactly which Gusset cogs you've got, but it looks like you may need an 8 speed 3/32" chain.

Take a look at the details on this page http://www.supersports.net.au/index.php?id=316
