    SS chainring bolts too short

Bought parts to convert to SS last week. Got some cheap bmx cranks and a blackspire chainring and a set of single speed chainring bolts. And only three of the 5 bolts threaded up and just barely.

They don't specify how long they are in the add. These are the ones:

Should I get some that are made for double chainrings? Take it to the LBS and ask them? I imagine they should at least get a few turns threaded so they're safe and won't come loose, any advice?

take em to the lbs. If it's a long established shop, they're have a drawer or container filled with chainring bolts and backers and washers to space them correctly.

no inside. I don't think I could mount it outside if I tried. Is that a serious question?

Thanks, yeah I figured that would be the best option. Just wanted to get the public opinion first. I'm gonna head out to the shop today

you mentioned bmx cranks, so i assume there is only one way to mount the chainring which is outside the spider. care to post some pictures?

I just installed a Blackspire Veloce single speed ring on my old LX cranks using bolts like those. Are you sure that the BMX crankset isn't the problem? Pics would help.

On my Blackspire chainring the holes on one side are countersunk and the other side is not, flush with rest of ring. But I had to run mine with the countersunk side facing the cranks if I ran the chain ring bolts into the countersunk side the chainring bolts would not tighten. Just my two cents.

OH alright that makes sense. I didn't even look at it I just wanted the white letters facing inwards. I will flip it around and see if they're long enough
