SS chain setup question from newb

I need to know if it's cheaper to add links to my SRAM PC850 chain or to get a new chain and remove links from it. I don't have a chain tool and don't know which is the best one. My bike is an Access XCL 9er with a Truvativ Stylo 1.1 crankset and a Niner cog. I'll probably get the Sette chain tensioner from PricePoint.com. Thanks for all the help.

Remove links from a new chain , then you have spares . Get yourself a chain tool , most decent multi tools have one and you really should have a multi tool anyway . Get yourself a couple of SRAM powerlinks while your at it .

Easier to remove than add. When I road SS I used a combo of the Sette Tensioner and a Sram PC1 SS chain. I dont know if a power link will work with it, because it is a much thicker chain.
