SS chain finished after 2500 kms?

I've done roughly 2500 kms on my single speed Inbred. When I washed the bike the other week I took the chain off and cleaned it well. I used my Park Tool "chain wear indicator" to see how the chain was doing and noticed to my surprise that it indicated 0,75 % wear. Well worn, in other words. Isn't this a bit premature? On a geared bike bike I could understand it, but on a single speed? I confess that I haven't cleaned it as often or well as I should have, but it's been well lubed always.

Should I change it now or wait untill it's worn som more (to the mark indicating 1 % on the Park Tool)?

    Thanks

2500 km offroad is quite a lot, even for an SS chain.
    Ride more!

    used mostly on asphalt

Maybe 1/3 of the distance is done offroad , and that is easy offroad. Main use is commuting to and from work.

    Thanks

Chains wear as fast if not faster on a singlespeed. Too high a chain tension can quicken a chain's demise. Over 1500 miles isn't too bad.
