    From SS to 8 speed??

I have a SS and when I go to group rides I find difficulty in keeping up with the other riders on the flats. Is it possible to just put a rear 8 speed cassette and a rear dérailleur on my bike and just keep only the 32T ring in front. Thanks

Yes. You would have the common 1x8.

Markleo! Don't tell me that you are going back to gears after all that conversion you made. Oh well, whatever makes us happy, right?

I am not so sure. Don't get me wrong, I love the SS but as i said, when I go riding with the other guys on the flats I really stay behind. I will think about it though. I will also try a 32:16 before I go to gears. Now I run 34:18.

if they wont wait on the flats then dont you wait after the climbs or single track...
sure you'll be riding alone a lot but you'll all finish together.

i guess you could always convert them to single.

Use a higher gear and go faster, or don't ride with racer-boy douchebags that are always "racing."
