    Sram 11 speed to singlespeed

    Hi all,

I want to convert my Borealis Echo to single speed- my plan is to use a Singleator for chain tension (unless some one has a better suggestion?)

I'm having trouble finding a spacer kit for the freehub though- it seems like there are plenty of options for 8 and 9 speed freehubs but not for 11?
Do I need to replace the free hub or is there a product out there that will work with a Sram 11 speed?

Google and search here has not produced the answers I seek...

Thanks in advance for any insights, this forum is an awesome source of info.

If you have a SRAM 11 spd cassette with an XD Driver on the hub, you will need to swap the driver over to a normal Shimano freehub. At that point it is just spacers and a cog.

If you have ISCG mountings then I'd use a Blackspire Stinger as a chain tensioner, rather than a spring loaded type. That way you'll completely remove any chain slap issues.

Singleator is gross. If you have to buy one get the spring that pushes up. This Melvin Chain Tensioner ? Paul Component Engineering looks like it might work.

Still having trouble figuring out the freehub situation- sure would be nice if there were a spacer kit for the sram freehub...
I'm pretty sure the singleator can be mounted under the chain? Sure look like the melvin does not? No ISCG mounting so I think I'm stuck with a hanger mount tensioner?

    Thanks for the replies everyone

What specific hub do you have? Find the Shimano-type freehub for it and you're set.
