    Spot or Truvativ ring guard?

Does anybody have pros/cons to either the Truvativ or Spot charinring guard? I just got some 4 bolt Bontrager Race cranks that I'm going to use for my first s.s. and I wanted to put a guard on as well.

    Thanks!

my advice is save your cash and go no bashguard at all. just get some bmx bolts to hold your ring on snug.

    bmx kids do it.

    i do it.

i hit logs and rocks all the time with my ring. it hasn't bent yet, and since the teeth are covered by the chain it doesn't stick on the logs.

I rode for years without one. I bought a used set of Turbines that had a Spot guard on it. I left it on, only 'cause I had it and was running the ring on the inside. Easy fit etc - no issues. Spend $35 on a new one? Probably not.
