    Spoke size

I have a set of wheels built for my 29er geared bike that has a 17/18 guage spoke. Would that be ok to run on a rigid SS. I am just wondering if you need to run a larger diameter spoke on a SS. My current set up is 15/14 spokes. Thanks for the help.

I can't see any reason why you'd want a heavier gauge spoke on an SS.
While climbing it certainly feels as though we are delivering alot more torque through the spokes from hub to tire but GEARS just spare your legs, not the final drive.
In reality most riders apply greater stresses to spokes bringing the bike to a stop with DISC brakes than their legs ever create climbing.
Make sure your spokes are properly tentioned and go show those hills who's the boss.
